OUR TEACHING TEAM

We are very proud of our teaching team. They do an outstanding job in creating an enjoyable learning environment.

They are passionate about sharing EMMETT, have a very welcoming and friendly approach, explain and demonstrate clearly, and all have prior experience in teaching & instructing.

We have two categories in our teaching team:

Tutors: Trained to deliver our one day workshops
Instructors: Trained to deliver workshops and our Practitioner courses. Some are qualified to deliver our advanced training too.

HUMAN INSTRUCTORS

Judith Johnson

International Instructor working mainly within the UK, but also travels to teach.

Judith started her EMMETT Practitioner journey in 2007. She has been a complementary therapist since 2004, after leaving her previous career as an Occupational Therapist (OT).

Whilst working as an OT, Judith gained extensive experience, working in Psychiatry and in a range of specialities in physical health care including Neurology and Orthopaedics. She has worked in Social services with severely disabled people and also was Course Leader at the two year Occupational Therapy degree course at The Royal London Hospital for 9 years.

Judith started teaching the EMMETT 4 Humans introductory workshop in 2010 and the Practitioner courses in 2015. She has been assisting Ross Emmett in developing speciality short courses over the past two years and now teaches courses for Foot Care, Hand Care and Yoga / Personal Training professionals.

Judith has completed the EMMETT4Dogs and EMMETT4Horses Practitioner courses and now teaches the EMMETT4DOGS Introductory course.

She has trained in a number of therapies but concentrates on EMMETT Technique, ScarWork and is currently training in Hypnotherapy to be able to offer a truly holistic client service.

Nicola McDermid

Instructor of EMMETT Therapies UK & Ireland (for Humans)

Nicola been involved in Complementary therapies since 2011 and is a Reflexologist, Massage therapist and Reiki Master.

Having discovered EMMETT in 2018, she has been teaching the EMMETT Technique workshops (formerly called EMMTECH) since 2019 and now teaches these plus the EMMETT Technique Footcare Workshop, and the EMMETT Technique Practitioner course.

Based in Edinburgh she mainly conducts classes across Scotland.

ANIMAL INSTRUCTORS

Instructor for Horse Courses

I live in Settle, North Yorkshire and I have owned (Icelandic) horses since 2001. I have competed in several events for Icelandic Horses during that time but my main passion is as a leisure rider. I love nothing more than the experience of riding my own horses through the beautiful countryside in Scotland and enjoying the wellbeing boost that brings.

I have worked for many years in the IT industry as a consultant but I have been lucky enough in the last 10-15 years or so to balance that office work with providing physical therapy for people and for horses. I have been working with people as a therapist since completing certification in Swedish Massage in 2011, and following on with Sports & Remedial Massage and also Reiki in 2012. I completed my training as an EMMETT Technique practitioner for people in 2018 and attained my advanced certification in 2023.

I began working with horses first with Reiki in 2017, and in January 2023 I completed my certification as an advanced EMMETT 4 HORSES practitioner.

I continue to be humbled by the power of the EMMETT Technique and its ability to help both people and animals with issues related to pain, restricted mobility and disfunction. I have seen some truly astonishing results in my time working with the technique and I am very grateful to have found and to be able to share the EMMETT technique with others.
